The General Educational Development (GED) is a series of tests designed to measure the skills and knowledge equivalent to that of a high school graduate. The GED program provides an opportunity for individuals who did not complete high school to earn a credential that is recognized as equivalent to a high school diploma.

The GED test covers four main subject areas, each of which corresponds to a traditional high school subject. The subjects of the GED are:

4. Social Studies: This section covers various social science topics, including history, geography, civics and government, and economics. Questions may involve interpreting maps, analyzing historical events, and understanding principles of government.
